Beulah Mae Bruce-Stansbury, affectionately known as "Betty" a loving daughter of the late Laverne and Hattie Wright Bruce was born on Feb. 8th, 1941 in Darlington County, South Carolina. She loved her family with an unconditional love that was supernatural. Everything that was embedded into her, she got from her parents, aunts and uncles. She passed this loving spirit on to her siblings, her husband and to her children. She truly loved all of her sisters and brothers. Beulah (Betty) was educated in the public schools of Darlington County, graduating from the Butler High School with the class of 1958. After graduation, as most young people of the time, she moved to New York City in effort to find a better life. There she met the love of her life, Sterling Stansbury. This meeting led to a blissful marriage on March 15, 1963. God blessed this union with two beautiful children, Sabrina and Rickie. Beulah (Betty) was never a stranger to hard work. This ethic continued in her employ at the Department of Vital Statistics in New York where she served as "Payroll" Clerk. It was in the late 1970's that she and her entire family moved back to her beloved Hartsville where she continued the venue of dedicated work with the Darlington County School district. She remained on this job until her retirement in 2002. She was raised in a Christian home and this early upbringing led to her deep love of her church, the New Testament Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Christian steward in many capacities to include that of "Deaconess" President of the Missionary Society, Chair of the Dietary Committee, President of the Youth Choir as well as a Sunday School Teacher. She was also president of "Bruce Singers" for some 32 years. Beulah (Betty) was called home by her Heavenly Father on October 10th, 2013. Surviving to cherish her memory is her husband of 52 years, Sterling Stansbury of the home, a daughter, Sabrina Stansbury of Hartsville and Rickie Edward Stansbury also of Hartsville. Three grandson, Sterling La'Juan (Michelle) Stansbury, Daniel Leatch and DeQuan Leatch, Granddaughter, Na'Sheia Mason. One great granddaughter Chelniya Stansbury. Three God Daughters, Shonney Bruce and Tiffney Cotton Michelle Cotton all of Hartsville. Her unconditional love poured into her immediate family. Other survivors include three brothers, Eddie (Valiree) Wright and Kenny (Lorraine) Bruce both Hartsville, and Laverne (Shirley) Bruce of Elizabeth City, NC. Four sisters, Patricia (Gabriel) Haigler, Lula Haigler, Mae Ceaser and Dorothy Bruce-Alford all of Hartsville. Four brothers in law, William Alford, Walter (Detha) Stansbury, Bernard Allen and Tommie Leatch all of Hartsville. One aunt, Eliza Jane Fortune of Bishopville, and a host of other very close relatives and friend.
