Obituary "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all of the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Psalm 23:6 Mr. David Lee Bacote departed this life Monday, October 14, 2013 at Carolina Pines Medical Center in Hartsville, South Carolina. Affectionately called "Elock" by his family and friends, David was born August 13, 1933 in Darlington County, South Carolina, the son of Weldon Pete Bacote and Theola Hamilton Bacote. After attending Butler High School in Hartsville, David joined the United States Army, from which he received an honorable discharge. He was employed for over 20 years at Stein Hall Corporation (Charlotte, NC) as a industrial plant mechanic, and retired from AMP Incorporated (Charlotte, NC) in 1998. After retirement David worked for the City of Hartsville as a crossing guard and performed repair and carpentry projects for many. Those left to cherish the wonderful memories of David Lee "Elock" Bacote include his devoted wife of 56 years, Earlise Peterson Bacote of the home; his daughter, Miriam Lee Holland of Gahanna, OH; and his son, Michael (Cora) Bacote of Leesburg, GA; his six grandchildren, Torian Juan Bacote of Albany, GA, Omar Bacoate of New Bern, NC, Aaron Holland and David Holland, both of Gahanna, OH, Adrienne Roundtree of Jacksonville, NC and William Roundtree, Jr., Winnsboro, LA; nine great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; his aunt Corine Holloman; three brothers, Willie (Jessie) Bacote, Robert (Imogene) Bacote and Harold Bacote; five sisters, Gladys Anthony, Margaret Watson, Lois Gaither, Doris (Bobby) Tabb and Francena (Charles) Washington; four brothers-in-law, Archie (Katherine) Peterson, Leo McDaniel, Moses Peterson and Edward McLaughlin; four sisters-in-law, Mildred Campbell, Winnie (Jack) Arnold, Alta Mae Hicks, Lois McLaughlin and a host of loving nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends.
