Obituary: Mr. Dorsey Davis, Jr. Job 1:21 "Naked came I out of my mother's womb and naked shall I return there: The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord." Dorsey Davis, Jr. was born September 26th, 1938 in Darlington, SC, a son of the late Dorsey and Annie Kennedy Davis. He departed this life on Sunday October 20th, 2013. He was educated in the schools of Darlington County. As a young man, Dorsey was ambitious in mind, and strong in stature. His physical strength and skills in his early twenties led him to be trained in the profession in boxing. He traveled the northeast coast as a light weight boxer from Brooklyn, New York. He returned to his beloved South Carolina in the early eighties. Dorsey grew up in the farming community and learned the art of hard work at an early age. After returning form New York, he was employed with the SC Highway Department at a highway construction worker. He worked there dutifully until his retirement. Dorsey was raised in a Christian home and continued living the life of his early teachings through his attendance of his home based church, the Lawson Grove Baptist Church. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, and adoptive daughter, Molly Davis. One grandson, Motty. One brother, Apostle Timothy Stevenson of Waterbury, Conn. Five sisters, Virginia Williams and Lizzie Jackson, both of Darlington. Azalee Jackson of New York, Georgia Williams of Florence, SC, and Mary Lucky of Clifton, NJ. A special niece and nephew, Cachet & Rock McCall of Hartsville and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
