Obituary Joseph Brown was born August 24, 1929 in Darlington County, South Carolina a son of the late Arthur Bob Brown and Mary Ward Brwon. He received his early education in the public schools of Darlington County. Joseph loved the Lord and wanted to be a servant in his house. It was his love for God that led him to become a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. While there he served on the Usher Board, the Male Chorus, the Second Sunday Choir, and the Mass Choir. He was also a regular attendant in Sunday School. Brother Brown was a faithful member and enjoyed the fellowship with his church members. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and a son, James Brown. Surviving to cherish the loving memories and continue the legacy of Joseph Brown is his sister, Lucille Benjamin of Bishopville, SC; his brother, Willie Joe Brown of Hartsville, SC; eight nieces, Francena Cohens and Rowena Brown both of Darlington, SC, Helen (Charles) Bacote of Hartsville, SC, Tanzie (Jamod) Anderson of Charlotte, NC, Mary Robinson of Baltimor, MD, Daisy Moses of Florence, SC, Elouise Serrette of Brooklyn, NY, Betty Johnson of Bishopville, SC, and Bertha Pinkney of Philadelphia, PA; six nephews, Alee (Dorze) Brown and Sunny Brown both of Florence, SC, Paul Simon of Baltimore, MD, Ralph (Lila) Brown of Darlington, SC, Rev. Emanuel (Annie) Simon of Hartsville, SC, and James (Sheila) Brown of Colorado Springs, CO; two special friends, Sheila Gilliard and Dianne (Willie) Harris, and a host of other relatives and very dear friends.
