Obituary "To everything there is a season, a time for every matter under heaven, a time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted, a time to weep, and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to keep and a time to cast away.." Ecclesiastes 3:1-4 Margaret Thomas was born in Hartsville, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Arthur and Emma Louise Caston Thomas. She was one of six children. She was educated in the public schools of Darlington County, South Carolina. She graduated with the Butler High School Class of 1956. After graduating, she moved to New York to make a better life for herself. Margaret's early Christian training came through the blessing of being born in a Christian family. Her membership in Christian discipline began as a member of Centerville African Methodist Episcopal Church. After moving to New York, she continued to attend and participate in church services. She always put Christ first in everything she did. Margaret was a hard-working and dedicated individual. She continued her educational training in the health care field. She worked most of her life as a Nurse's Aide at Lewis Home Care Agency. She worked there until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She always planned events at her home to bring the family together or to enjoy the company of friends during special events or holidays. Margaret was especially good with children and enjoyed being with them. Those who knew and loved her will miss her dearly, but know to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. She was preceded in death by both of her parents. Surviving to cherish the memory and maintain the legacy of Margaret Thomas is her daughter, Roberta Lighty; her two sisters, Flossie Sims and Ruby Muldrow both of Bronx, NY; a niece, Sara Lighty of Bronx, NY, and a host of other relatives and very dear friends.
