Obituary Major Hough was born April, 8, 1920 in Lee County, South Carolina. He was the fourth child of the late Moody and Eliza J. Morgan Hough. He departed this life on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the McCoy Nursing Center in Bishopville, South Carolina. Major was educated in public schools of Lee County. He was the owner and operator of Major Hough and-Son Used Cars. After 36 years of service, he retired as auto mechanic. Major was blessed to meet and marry the love of his life, Margarite "Janie Mac" Hough. They married on February 21, 1942 and re¬mained happily devoted to each other for 70 years. To their union nine children was born, one beloved son, James Major (Fran) Hough, Jr., eight daughters, Karen (Kelvin) Mikell, Linda (Willie) Hicks, Mazie (Heyward) Jackson, Rosetta (Frank) Benjamin, Barbara (Oliver) Lee, Virginia Hall, Eliza Bacote, and Ruby (Joe) Debroux. Major was a loving and supportive husband and father who took pride in his family. He in¬stilled values of dependability, dedication and a strong belief in God. Major had a plethora of hobbies and activities that he took pleasure in perusing. He enjoyed bicycling, gardening and pets. He loved to plant fruits and veggies. Every year he would plant a garden for his family and a garden for the community. He was also an avid auto res¬toration fan and antique collector. At an early age, Major became a member of the Kellybell United Methodist Church and served on the Building Fund Committee. Preceding Major in death were his brothers Jack, Jesse, Aaron, Jamie and Raymond; and sisters, Alineta, Elizabeth, Lula Mae, I.illie and Perline. Major Hough leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Janie, one be¬loved son, James Jr.; eight daughters, Karen, Linda, Mazie, Rosetta, Barbara, Virginia, Eliza and Ruby; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grand¬children; one sister, Alfreda (Eddie) Taylor of Columbus, GA; one brother, Rev. Frank (Carrie) Hough of Loris, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and very dear friends.
